Default Re: Touranment Situation

Well, I admit to assuming a starndard set of payouts (50,30,20 or something close if only 3 get paid), and an average stack size of over 5BB. I think in order to make this not a clear no you really have to work, and if the conditions were that abnormal they would (or at least should) have been mentioned.

Take the case that the two all ins are pushing 50% of their hands with standard payouts, unless the stacks are very short (say < 4BB) it is still right to fold here I think, since AQo is going to win less than half the match ups with two random hands and these two players are playing so aggressively that the liklihood of both of them surviving a full round is pretty low.

Sure, I could arrange the blinds and the stack sizes and the action so that it is consistent with the question where calling would be correct, but as far as I can tell, the person is asking "Is AQ typically worth calling for all your chips with two people all in on the bubble."

The payout was 50/30/20, and i have 2130, guy in front of me has 2900, and small stack has 900. Blinds where 200/400. I thought it was an easy fold, but my buddy and a few players on partypoker where agreeing, and i could not seeing any justification in this situation. So I had to come to the forum to make sure my logic was correct in case this situation arrises again. Thanks for your responses everyone.

Default That\'s a no-brainer (fold), but...

...what if you replace AQo with AA?

Probably in your situation it was a good lay down, but it isn't clear to me.

Lets look at the chips situation.

Big stack 2900
Hero 2130
Short Stack 2 900
Chip Leaer 4070

If Big Stack wins than you finish in 3rd because you had more chips going into the hand.
If Short Stack wins than if you win the side pot against player 1 you will have 2460 chips and moved into 2nd place.
The only way you finish out of the money if Short Stack wins out right and you lose the side pot with Big Stack.
If you win you will have 5160 and you will be the new chip leader!

Even against AKo and JJ you still have a 20% chance of winning and if just one of the players has a weaker hand (certainly not unlikely that a short stack would go all in with something like A10, AJ, KQs or a medium pocket pair). Your win probability goes up to ~35%.

How would it change if you had ak (suited or non) instead?
