I think it means he killed Lacy on purpose, but indirectly killed the unborn baby. They would have had to prove that he stabbed the baby to give him 1st degree on that charge.

Going to retrial.. The jurors were stupid. [/ QUOTE ] The "doctrine of double effect" may have come into play. It is the primary intention that counts. He intended to kill his wife. Because he killed his wife, he killed the foetus/baby too. |
