I don't mean to say it's an Arab-only thing.
It happens in all worlds where the people are oppressed by their government, where a bribe is expected by government officials, where money talks and everything else takes a back seat. |

Apparently you're not familiar with the concept of lawsuits and settlements in the good ol' USA. This type of "blackmail" for cumulatively orders of magnitude higher figures goes on all the time right here at home.

At least in the US of A there's a civil court system that to some degree or other will separate itself from government to control this sort of thing. In PA-land, the only law is: For Arafat, there is no law. |

Better that the money go to her than to funding the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and other such "worthy" Palestinian causes. I'm only disappointed that she didn't get more.
