Did anyone not see an escalation coming?

The administration said they were preparing for a major offensive after the election. It's not a suprise attack.

George W Bush didn't need an exit strategy for Vietnam, since he never entered Vietnam.

I wonder if peoples vote would have changed if they knew this was coming. You'll notice in the weeks building up to the election, it was all about finding a peaceful way to solve Fallujah, and then once the election is over, bam, nevermind.

[/ QUOTE ]

TSC, I find it quite surprising that you did not see this coming. Allawi was giving ultimatum after ultimatum. There was tons of talk about needing to pacify "the no go zones" before the January Iraqi elections. We were bombing daily. There was a big flap about moving some of the British troops north, and a tons of other signs.

[ QUOTE ]
BTW, I don't doubt the U.S. military tried to solve it peacefully either.

[/ QUOTE ]

They did back in April. It was a collosal mistake.

Ya O'reilly wouldn't shut up about it. I guess O'reilly was right to complain though.

Joke might sound better phrased "Dubya had a plan for getting out of Vietnam"

I am not saying this came out of nowhere, just that we heard very little talk of it in the weeks before the election. Remember, most voters are not as informed as those that post on here
