You definatly wouldn't make money if you both started with 5BB, so how many BB's do you both need before you reckon you'd be positive EV then?

Assuming he gets then rest of his money in postflop on a short stack regardless, it's somewhere around 26 or 27bb.

I'm too lazy to do the math out exactly.
