Hello Jonny,
Whoever posted that live $3/$6 games aren't beatable is frustrated because they aren't beating them I believe that the poster may have been referring to a response that I made to another post. Now I don't know where you play and what the rake is, however let me give you some background on the Los Angeles 3/6 games. Each hand is dropped $3.00, not by increments, but by the entire $3.00 when the dealer, deals the flop. (I'm not sure what happens when there is no flop, the house may "only" drop $1.00), ok now add to that $1.00 for the bad beat jackpot and suddenly you have $4.00 being taken out of each pot, that I believe is a very difficult obstacle to overcome. And fwiw, I rarely if ever play low limit live, one of the reasons being, you guessed it, the house drop! Regards, Jim |

That is an outrageous toke, so I apologize if I was overly presumptuous. I was basing this off of the LV, Henderson, and (in my case) AZ card rooms, where it is a $1 min/$3 max rake/$1 jackpot rake. But the pot has to be decent for them to max rake it. I seldom play live anymore because of the reasons that we both have listed here. I do stand by the fact that they are beatable, though, only because the play is so stunningly loose-passive where I play.

Where I used to play (Casino Arizona) they would drop $5 max on the weekend ($4 to the rake, $1 to the jackpot). Combine that with the constant flow of $3.25 beers...
I find that when I play live, I tighten up a bit to avoid the rake and mainly stick to hands that can win the jackpot. The Shill |
