My wife and I go to Vega$ at least twice a year. Been there, done that with restaurants. If your taste bud is Lamb, I reccommend the fine dining at "William B's" in the Stardust Hotel and Casino. The price's are pretty reasonable compared to the other high end Hotels on the Strip.

The food and service in their Coffee shop and Buffet suck, But "William B's" is great.

Some suggestions

P F Changs - awesome fusion chinese - couple of locations - original across from Terribles Casino on S.Paradise.

Makino Sushi - the most unbelievable Sushi buffet I've ever seen (and I'm from Vancouver, the home of the cheapest all-you-can eat sushi in the world). Check out this link for location and a review

Any Wolfgang Puck place - Le Chinois and Spago in the Forum shops, and Trattoria Del Lupo in Mandalay Bay were excellent.

Ruth's Chris Steak House - always good, nice atmoshpere at the one on Flamingo.

For casual fun dinning I like the Cheese Cake Factory at the Forum shops and the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay.

Oh and for a fast lunch the Mac & Cheese at the Harley Davidson Restaurant on the strip is OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Drai's at Barbary Coast is excellent, old school, classy and romantic. ~$65 each

Mon Ami Gabi at Paris is great too. ~$65 each

Mandalay Bay has quite a few really nice restaurants.

Rumjungle at the mandalay bay was an interesting experience. If you have some money to throw at it (it wasn't cheap, though we had friends paying for part of our meal), their Fire Pit meal is more food than you could possibly eat but it's all amazing. Go starved though.

Spectacular looking place (even the bathrooms). I thought the food was just OK, but there certainly was a lot of it. I'd go there just for a drink and eat at the noodle shop.

OTOH, one night while at Rumjungle, there was a young woman straddling her, um, date. And I'm talking a live straddle here.

Default Best Vegas Restaurant!

Each time my buddies and I go to Vegas, we always make it a point to go to the Klondike Casino on the Vegas Strip, just south of the Mandalay Bay. The gourmet spaghetti is excellent and the baked chicken is superb. Breakfast ain't bad either with their house specialty of Canadian bacon, choice of eggs, and homemade hash browns. The Klondike Casino restaurant presents a dining experience that will bring gastronomic memories that will last a lifetime. Yum!

That's a great choice. And if you really want something classy there is always the buffet and Circus Circus.

Delmonico Steakhouse at the Venetian is the best food I have ever had, bar none. It's not cheap (about $70/person), but absolutely incredible. Reservations highly recommended.

Default Re: dinner in vegas-- the results!

i'd like to thank everyone for responding to this post. it made our stay in vegas really fun.....well even more fun.
friday: we had lunch at Tabla (the indian restaurant at the hawaiian garden mall). it was buffet for 10.95 and it absolutely rocked! many dishes....all wonderful. we also had a nice cup of chai. this place reminded me of india...without all the wild monkeys. i don't think we ate dinner that night....we played the 1-4-8-8 1/2 kill at monte carlo til the wee hours.
saturday: pork chop and eggs at binions-- yum. my wife's steak and eggs not so good. tough steak. i told her that pork and eggs is a better match anyway.
dinner at commanders palace at aladdin. the smoked duck gumbo was one of the best soups i've ever had. the white bean and lamb soup was nice. the crab cake was really good. our entres were ok...maybe we ordered wrong. i had the steak and crab, my wife had a grilled fish. great service...nice place.
we didn't eat on sunday till just before we had to go to the airport...around 5pm. we had a few slices from the pizza place in the monte carlo food court. and they were excellent.

poker: the 2-6 excalibur, 2-4 plaza, and 2-4 luxor were super super loose...my wife absolutely cleaned up. i had a nice comeback at the luxor and finished 100 down.

thanks again everyone. bon apetit....
