The commas should be placed within the quote marks:

The word "It's," when used as a contraction of the words "it is," has an apostrophe.

I don't know much English, but pure logic tells me that can't be right.

The word "quote" is a verb. The adjective form of that verb
is quotation.

It does seem rather odd, and at times it makes the passage
appear to be more confusing than it needs to be. However,
if I remember Strunk and White correctly, placing all
punctuation within the quotation marks is the proper method.

Except she's absolutely right. I'm a few years less removed from grammar school than you, and unless they changed the rules up recently, commas go inside.

I think it jumped the shark when that GUS Hansen fan's BS messages started.

Erostatus or something....

You surely understand that language, especially the English version, is not based on logic.

That's because it's grammar. Therefore, it's illogical. Now, if we could only convince my sixth grade English teacher . . .

A better forum than this????

Tough chance! What you are likely to find in an alternate forum is something similar to what Randy Travis tried to convey in his country hit that went something like this....

"Grass not green enough on your side??? There ain't no grass where I am standing!"

In essence, while there is a healthy amount of garbage on this forum I have found that the good far outstrips the bad... If you don't have patience for reading certain threads skip it! As far as getting replies to poker questions I have found that good questions get a ton of responses. Be patient.

First, allow me to apologize for my spelling and gramatical errors. Actually, I am a free-lance writer and DO know how to spell and punctuate, most of the time. I make a few errors, but that's why we have editors! But I wrote it quickly and did not proof it before I posted.

That being said, look at the responses to the post. There are 3 that had remarks along the subject line (many thanks to those who stayed with me). All the others were about spelling and grammer. C'mon guys, this is a poker forum!

I have spent the last few years posting here (previously known as K10Suited Glen) and enjoy the lively poker threads. Greg and I used to trade jabs and open up great discussions about poker theory. Even David would bless us with his infinate skill and knowledge. Now even he is talking about grammer!

The real reason I made the post is to illustrate how frustrating it is to try and read one of these threads, while trying to learn something. You have to wade through 40 or more responses before ever seeing a comment that truly reflects the writers meaning. David's last poker question, and I'm paraphasing the title, "An interesting NL question" was great, but got very few actual responses.

I'd just like to see more about poker theory and hand playing as it applies to the WPT and other major tournaments.

Enough said. And no, that isn't a complete sentence. So what! Neither is this.

Keep Playing Hard! Glen

Actually, "This is not a complete sentence" is a complete sentence. You meant to say, "That is not a complete sentence."
