Re: Poker Bot - I\'ve coded it... but it\'s not winning - need AI guys.
The truth is, if you are building a bot and it can't beat PartyPoker 2-4 for 1BB/100, then your bot and your algorithms are terrible. You are a cheat and a bad one.
Although I despise your aims, I am actually interested in the ethics of a "folding" bot that would automatically fold garbage cards preflop. It would be pretty easy to make a reasonably good preflop bot, and the idea of tables popping up only when I have a hand that is at least marginal is intriguing. -Michael |

Re: @sshole
Don't be mad, if anything this is great. Poker is a complex game and while it can be straight forward (pushing AA/KK/QQ preflop) it involves a lot of thinking. Poker is player dependant and I'm sure his bot won't be able to get any 'reads' off of others. If the bot plays straightforward then you can exploit this and end up taking the bot owners money.
Bring on the bots! |

Re: @sshole
I don't know what everyone is getting upset about - if you are reasonably good, bots aren't going to take your money, and the sites are going to do everything they can to find and eliminate them, including (i'm guessing) suspicious account activity like playing 24/7.
That being said, I really don't beleive the original poster: reasonable starting hand selection should be straight forward, and even with never-bluff, ABC post-flop play you should be able to kill the 1-2. |

In that 9 months you spent making that bot you could have logged thousands of hours playing poker and becoming experienced, instead of making a useless bot.

Program it to always limp with AA, KK and QQ as subterfuge. If you don't hit a set on the flop, fold if the flop is two suited. Scary draws to the flush, you see.
Hope this helps. |

Hey Michael,
How is using a bot that will play one street for you okay, while using one that will play four streets for you isn't? GoT |

Re: Poker Bot - I\'ve coded it... but it\'s not winning - need AI guys.
Seems to be a lot of hostility directed towards bot guy. Don't get me wrong, I can understand why 2+2 posters might be unhappy with the idea of the rise of the machines. But philosophically, what's the objection? What if I teach my dog to play poker, and then let him put in the hours while I relax on a beach somewhere? Would that be OK?
