Hey Noal-

Just make sure you have a drink or two to calm yourself down first. :-)

Seriously, if you happen to be down there Saturday instead, look for me.

If I read the post above correct, they do not have tourneys on Saturdays.

He's a friend of mine that mostly plays against me in home games & tourneys.

Besides giving me [censored] about a tendency to get shaky hands in our home games, (which, for some reason, *only* happens there) he's just saying that I might want to come down to Greektown on Saturday nights instead of my usual roost on the 7 stud game over at Motor City.

Not gonna happen. I really don't care for the people that work at Greektown. The dealers & staff at Motor City are *far* more pleasant to deal with and, I believe, the stakes of the 7 stud game are slightly higher than Greektown's. Besides, I'd have to familiarize myself with the playing style of a whole different group of people.

Never mind that I've got a Kiwanis charity HE tourney that I'm in tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be pokered out by the time it's done.

Regards,
Noal

yeah, we give Noal crap...but only outta love...:-)....

For the board's info...Motor City doesn't spread 3-6 on Saturday and Sunday, but Greektown does (though I played 5/10 anyways, and was glad that I did). Also, Greektown is starting to put auto shufflers in all of the tables, not just in the new section. Pretty cool.

Hope the tourney went well...You just missed my $135 in 4 hour afternoon at good ol' Greektown. :-) No big exciting hands to report, just some pretty solid playing.

Yeah, the Kiwanis tourney went well and I had a lot of fun. Out of 100 participants, I finished 4th and made $300.

I'm buying lunch tomorrow for the two guys that came with me and had to wait around for 5 hours after they busted out. Figured it's the least I could do...and never let it be said that I didn't do the least that I could do.

Btw, Motor City doesn't spread 3/6 on Friday night either.

Regards,
Noal

If they don't, that is a change....my future sis-in-law and I would go at 10 or 11 a.m. on a Friday, and I would stay 'till at least 7-ish, and 3-6 would be spread...of course, this was a month and a half ago, so I guess it could have changed. But still...if so, that blows.

p.s. nice job at the tourney. I look forward to winning that money from you.

I'm not sure when they stopped dealing 3/6 HE on Friday nights. I haven't seen it in the last 4 weeks at least. They may deal it in the afternoon before the peak hours.

As for winning my money, good luck. We always seem to chop our friends' money more than anything else.

I'm thinking about going down to Greektown this Wednesday after work to check out their $100+10 SNG tourney. I figure I can play one to see if the blind structure is too aggressive for my tastes and what not.

Regards,
Noal

Okay, I finally made it down to Greektown for the new "lightning round" tourneys.

The way it works is you put your name on the list and when the current tourney ends, they call the next 10 names. Looks like they run one, maybe two, at a time. Supposedly, they have buy-ins ranging from $50-1000, but they were only running $100+10 when I was there.

You're given 1000 chips and the starting blind is 10/20. The blinds go from there to 20/40, 50/100 and doubles from there. It increases every time the button goes around the table, which means as people get eliminated, the blinds crank up *fast*.

The people playing it are *extremely* aggressive coming out the gate. At least half of the hands dealt involved someone going all-in.

Since I prefer the more patient play of multi-table tourneys or single-table tourneys with limits based on time or X hands, I didn't do as well as I would have liked and I doubt I'll return. I paid for the tourneys with the profits I made at the $2-10 7 stud game (which was *very* soft, unlike the weekend game at MCC) while I waited, so it wasn't an altogether unpleasant experience.

Regards,
Noal

That doesn't sound like much fun. It sounds like once it gets down to 3-4 people you have to play all in every hand and just get lucky.
