Silly fold. You have to push here. If you are just playing to squeek in, stop playing tourneys. If you want to win, push.

Well, I don't agree with that in a satellite. But still, unless you are quite likely to fold your way into the money, this is a great spot to push and try to ensure yourself a seat.

Very simple / serious question, I feel you need to answer.

Why did you limp in?

Good question about the limping. I guess I was just nervous...not thinking straight. He turned over AA.

PS: I did get a spot in the tourney...forced by the blinds all in with 45s and caught two 5's. Got 9th. My first final table (I guess with my play its no wonder its my first )

Don't be silly, you clearly think about your play, which is a great place to start.

Obviously, in certain situations, you can fold any hand. However, I don't believe you can play NLHE tourneys when the blinds are large (to the extent that a one or two reraises makes one all-in) being afraid of AA.

I'm not folding K's here. No way.

Glad it worked out for you.

Hmm. Maybe I should have read more carefully that this was a satellite. But still, unless you can fold into the money, you have to play this. The fact that he turned over AA is irrelevent. 90% of the time you are ahead here, and double through probably 75% of the time.

Just my opinion. Congrats on the spot in the big one!

I was about to post the same, but then realized it was a satellite, where the bubble beater gets the same as first gets.

So, he was playing to win.

That said, the very, very last thing you can do is limp-fold.

So the rest of the responses apply.

Here's the problem as I see it

Do you have a better chance to qualify by playing survival (and play nothing), or do you want a bigger stack that almost guarantees you into the final table.

If you're trying to survive, maybe fold or don't play any hands. With your stack, you may survive enough blinds so that someone else busts out.

On the other hand, it's unlikely that you'll get a better chance to double up.

In any event, I agree with the previous posters -- if you decide to play the hand, fold where you did can't be right.

Congrats on making the final table in any event.

Interesting side question for everyone. It turns out the BB actually had AA. Seeing that a limp may have been able to trap the short stack and bust him, was he wrong in this situation by raising? Risk to reward with such a large stack leads me to think so, even with the SB calling who also is small enough not to crush your stack, but I'm curious as to others thoughts.

You don't indicate what the stack sizes were at the other table. You had 9K. If the short stack had 2K and there were other stacks close to your level, it might be better to wait for the short stack to self destruct.

However, if you push and only pick up the blinds, that will probably give you the chips tofold your way into qualifying.
