Your job is to serve me? Well, your picture gives me a good idea. But you have to get down on your knees in front of me first.

Even though the jackpot is several times larger than before ($179k on sunday night), that still doesn't make up for the extra 0.50 rake and the fact that you have to hit four 8's and LOSE.
The only benefit I can see, is that the games seem to be softer and you might be able to make up the extra 0.50 rake. If you play at the mid-higher limit tables, it might actually be worth it. |

Here's a better idea than contributing .50 to each raked jackpot.
Play normal tables and save .50 of each raked pot you win. After one week, buy Keno tickets. You'll have lots of chances to win small jackpots, medium jackpots, and chance at a large jackpot. Say you play 10k hands per week, win 8%, 7% are raked. Take that $350 you contributed to the jackpot and buy 14 $25 Keno tickets. Play your fav, say 4 or 5 spot. Hit 4-of-4 or 4-of-5 and that's a nice jackpot. The only "problem" is that the nature of fishiness shifts from normal tables to jackpot tables. Now the normal tables are less fishy. The jackpot tables could be more fishy depending on jackpot size, limits you pay, etc. |

I just made the switch to Empire, so it's moot to me, BUT The way I figure it the table share is close to 4K now. 1000 big bets at 2/4 isn't a piece of sh!t!
If 4k, better games, and a (very slight) chance at the big money isn't worth it, I'd really like to know when it does become +ev? If nothing else maybe someone with an unfried brain can give us halfway decent odds on the likelyhood of hitting it. |

The benefit on $5-10 is big - the jackpot tables are much looser most of the time than at the normal $5-10 tables. So even considering the extra rake, I think it is clearly +EV to play the those tables, even without considering the bonus chance of actually hitting the Jackpot.
