I don't fault how you played after the flop, but realistically, you shouldn't have been there in the first place. [/ QUOTE ] I'm sure it isn't actually Mike w/ the KJo here. |

"I'm sure it isn't actually Mike w/ the KJo here."
check his previous posts. im 100% sure it's him. he needs to read ed's book. it says in there that cold calling raises w/ dominated crappy hands like KJo is one of the biggest errors you can make. |

what I was \"thinking\" at the table and the results
First of all, I shouldn't have been in this game. I was stuck and not getting very many hands. King-Jack! Two of the top four. So I cold called. I really "wanted" multiway action so I could win a bigger pot and at least get even.
Anyone for a threebet? If I was going to steam with this hand I might as well get it heads up and drive out the blinds. But I called anyway. Maybe a jack will flop (it did!) or I'll get a straight draw. And I thought I could get away with this cold call at 60-120. Back to the hand. River was a blank. BB bet, steamer called and I called. BB showed 43o(!), and EP didn't show. Ah, I wish I had three-bet. But in reality I knew I should be folding when I called, and I called anyway--the worst option of them all. I left the table immediately and put another dime on Panthers. Yes, I have been reading SSH and I knew KJo is a terrible hand in this spot. So it's back to 4-8 online for awhile. |

Re: what I was \"thinking\" at the table and the results
If you were determined to play this hand, I think I would prefer, given the choice to call or raise, the option of raising. Getting this heads-up is more likely and you in a better position to make a few hundred when the flop hits you. Regardless, you obviously realize that you should've folded preflop but if you were determined not to -- I think I like raising more than calling.

I took a break from sports betting, but I did bet on some games this trip and that's where my win came from.

excellent play!
3 bet with KJo pre-flop to a EP raiser in a 60-120 game?
I think this is an excellent play. I think people these days who are non-2+2 readers are playing way too tight, and don't realize that real money can be made with late position preflop isolation re-raises with nice starting hands like 2 paint cards. The other day, I even saw someone fold 8-5o for two bets cold from late position. It's amazing how tight some people play, even though the respected pros on this site advice strongly against it.
