Umm, yeah, I don't really get into the whole "ABC should be happy about XYZ". Of course he's not happy about being correctly called, but that doesn't mean he should make any other play (which is what I'm more concerned with). And there is only one way to play that hand imo.

[ QUOTE ]
you must mean happy he called preflop, right? his opponent's call on the flop was correct, getting 2 to 1 on a little worse than even money shot. --turnipmonster [/ QUOTE ] I have no idea what the correct way to play this is. If his check means he's on a draw with O/C (given the pre-flop action) then he's actually ahead if you push (15 outs over 2 streets, 12 if he knew you had a K) If his check means A-x then pushing will get him to fold, but you'd still win checking to the river if you assume he doesn't bet. Same if he's small pp. If he has a set or aces you're an underdog as with the FD and 2 O/C. Doesn anyone else see this or am I missing something? Looks like one of those cases where you'll only get called on the all-in if you're behind (to a made or drawing hand with 2 streets to go) and you'll take the pot on a fold if you're ahead, but then you'd probably win it anyway checking to the river as he draws to his flush. So check and push the turn If you do that at least he's 2.8-1 and not 1.2-1 given 12 outs. Of course the A fell so it doesn't really matter. Just trying to think of this in a different (albeit probably incorrect) way. |

if he flips over aces and moves in, his opponent should still call, but it's very close.
there is no way for the poster to play it better than he did. his opponent will go broke calling reraises out of position with AQs. --turnipmonster |

Agreed.
I guess I was thinking of the situation where your opponent has 15 true outs. If the poster had QQ and Villain had AKs you would definnitely want to check the flop because pushing all-in on the flop makes you the underdog. Then you push the turn and you know you're ahead of the draw as there's only one card left. In this case Hero was still ahead as he knew the Villain couldn't have 15 outs given his KK (12 at best) so the push is fine. |

yeah, exactly. if he has more info about his opponent's hand then it could be a good play if he can fold to a flush on the turn. but with almost no info on what he's calling him with, pushing is infinitely better than risking a free one. his opponent has much closer to perfect info about his play (i.e. he can be very sure his outs are live and his opp probably has a pocket pair < AA)

i think the check on the flop makes a lot of sense versus, aq spades.
unfortunely the villians cards are upside down. I like the flop push. |
