That is actually the rule for hold'em at the Borgata. If it's a split pot that does not divide evenly, the extra dollar goes to the player with the highest card in the hole.

You can argue the logic behind the rule if you like (and I may agree with you), but the dealer did follow the house rule.

I think that's the rule in L.A. as well.

Personally I have never been able to figure out the "closest to the button" rule. If I'm involved in a split pot and someone were to ask me whether I'm entitled to the extra dollar, I would just have no idea. And I don't think it's hurt me at all.
