Nordstrom, JC Penney, REI, Old Navy, Rochester Big & Tall catalogue, Men's Wearhouse. That's about it.

Jeans, I own one or two pairs of low-end designer jeans from mall stores (J. Crew, Express, that kind of stuff) and a few comfortable pairs of Dickies/Levis/whatever.

Shirts, I have a bunch of basic polos and button-downs from department stores, second hand, and again a few nice ones. I just buy Fruit of the Loom t-shirts, underwear and thermals for the winter.

Every guy should have a few good outfits that look really sharp, the rest are fine if they are clean, comfortable and fit you properly.

As for J. Crew, I liked the pair of jeans I got from them but I did wear them out very quickly. If you're the type of guy who only wears a few pairs of jeans, they're not that durable.

Salvation Army, local vintage clothing stores, Old Navy, Gap, Marshall's, TJ Maxx. I also shamelessly accept handouts from everyone.
