How is pure capitalism bad for America?

[/ QUOTE ]

Pure capitalism can't work, because consumers are idiots. That's why the government steps in to control monopolies.

Errr...
http://winningargument.blogspot.com/...r-america.html

Just googled. Is this what everyone is complaining about??? If so, don't we need new laws?? I'm sure walmart isn't the only company to take advantage of this stuff.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't even talking about this stuff.

The main thing is that there are a billion reasons that Wal-Mart is a cancer on our economy, And there are very few legit arguments for it being a good thing.

"I like it because it's pretty cheap and has the stuff I want" is about the only thing it has going for it. It's really a marvel of corporate evolution. All you have to do is sucker the consumer, and you get all the money, power, and can do whatever you want.

if it wasn't walmart, it'd be something else. i don't get it.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can't justify something that way.

Since I am prone to analogous reasoning, here you go:
It's like saying, 'if it weren't Hitler, someone else would've killed all those people.'

Now, don't get all weird on me about this. I know you wouldn't condone Hitler's actions. And as bad Walmart is, they aren't gassing people to death (so far as I know, anyway).

I'm just saying, if Walmart is bad, they're bad.

It doesn't matter that some other XYZ company would/does do the same thing.

Walmart might be the best target to direct efforts of change.

So, back to original question, NAY!
Walmart is evil, IMHO.

Well I googled, so if you have some pertinent info, I would like to hear about it.

Walmart sucks because they are non union and killing all the middle class people who survived on parents working union jobs. My dad said " Ill go to Walmart and shoot all the managers." So I think he is anti Walmart also.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wallmart sucks because they are non union?

Why the hell should a bunch of uneducated workers be able to tell brilliant businessmen (even opposition conceedes this point that the Waltons and the rest of the Wallmart mgmt are great business) how to run their company? The Waltons started a company with their own capital and hard work, if the company were to fail because of the union infestation would that be fair?

Labor unions are lucky to have the amount of power that they currently have. I agree that in the times of Samuel Gompers the labor movement was oppressed to the point where government regulation was necessary but we are FAR beyond that point. This isn't The Grapes of Wrath anymore. The oppressed workers in the 21st century are not American citizens. Or, are you going to possibly argue that these Wallmart workers who freely accept jobs are being oppressed because they agree to work part time and therefore are not entitled to health insurance and 401ks. If they don't like it they can work somewhere else!

Labor unions are an enormous drain on the economy. Please try to give me some reasons why Wallmart should allow unions to take over their company and I will provide you with much more reasonable counterarguments.

I like Wallmart. When the butcher union orgainized one of their stores in California they had a choice to allow those locusts to take over their business or to rid themselves of the union the only legal way possible. They stopped serving fresh meat in every one of their stores.
