Thanks, Holden. I may just try that out. Money seems to talk in Vegas.

Ok so here's the best advice anyone is gonna give you, when your in baggage claim, there are these guys with carts, even if you have 1 bag tell them you need help, They are called skycaps, i'm sure you've heard of them sometimes they're sitting around doing nothing, you'll be able to find one no problem im betting. Tell them you need help with you bag and need a taxi,They get to cut you in the taxi line to the front and you'll be in a taxi in less than 2 minutes but throw them 5 bucks since they work for tips and saved you and hour. How do i know this secret you ask? I used to be a skycap

Default Recommendation? Slip a redcap $5, bypass the taxi waiting line

Pay a redcap $5 to wheel your bag to the front of the cab line. (It works, even if all you have is a carryon.)

There are a lot of shuttle services and they are less expensive than a cab. You can usually book them for your return by buying a two way ticket as well, which is still under $10. The downside is that you may have to wait until the shuttle fills up, which doesn't sound like it will be a big problem on a busy weekend, and they do make other stops along the way at different hotels. So, it might take a little longer than just taking a taxi to the hotel.
Me personally, I am never in that much of a hurry and have taken the shuttles every trip I have ever taken there and been happy with them. YMMV

unclear how renting a car on one of the five busiest weekends of the year could possibly be faster than waiting for a taxi (ignoring the hassle of returning it and the high cost).

going to try out the skycap/tip method. looks like a winner. appreciate all the advice.

F the shuttle - the last time I was in Vegas, the shuttle broke down smack dab in the middle of the strip on a Friday night. I made the driver let me out and went to the back and got my bag and started hoofing it.
