One important lesson every poker player must learn is how you handle a considerable downswing because they happen to everyone eventually.

If you have not experienced a sizeable downswing already, which I doubt you have, I'd recommend staying in the lower games a bit longer.

Not forever of course but until you have a nice bankroll and a bit extra. Suffering your first big downswing when you move up to the big games is very disheartening and can hurt your game for a long period of time.

well i just started 55's and obviously 2k/2k is not enough for 109's and i dont plan to move there right now. for 55's 2k/2k shouldnt be bad. if i dont do well i will easily move down and make the money back but i am going back to 55's asap. and i am DISCIPLINED enough to go back down if i need to. i have done this many times. and its 2k per account. i wont b 8 tabling 55's as i stated. so technically im playing with 4k. eventually i will though . eventually meaning asap!!. but the question i am putting here is that is having a br sufficient enough to move up without having enough experience in the lower limits? is is correct to think of the future instead of the present? i am sure i can be making more consistent money if i just 8 table 33's but i am willing to learn 55's asap just as i did the other limits. and move to 109 to learn that as soon as possible. im not in a hurry hurry but i feel that staying in a level i know that i can beat is wasting time. i may make more money there and move up when its safer to do so, but thats only slowing things down. im not worried about my bankroll. i think i have sufficient bankroll to move up. its just the experience part. since i havnt played thousands of sngs in each of the limits below, i do lack experience. but i have enough confident that i know i can be a winning player after 1000 sng's in the limit. therefore i feel that i have learned the limit. and am moving up to 55's and will continue to do this . so is this wise?

Shorten this into a couple sentences with maybe even capital letters.

sigh!! lazy people.

question i am statng is that is having a bankroll and little experience enough to move up to the next limit? i have enough confidence that i know i will be a winning player after 1000's of sngs in each of the limits. therefore i believe i have learned the limit. thus i am moving up. is this wise? or is experience just as important? i feel that staying in a limit that i have learned is wasting time? time that can be better spent learning a new limit which has bigger earnings and will put me 1 step closer to the 109's and 215's.

there.

heh funny we said that. i just experienced a -24 buyin downswing tonight but good thing i made it all back and then some. to answer your question i migh tnot have had ALOT of downswings, but believe me i experienced my share. i experienced -20 in many ocasions. 33's has been a shaky start but now i am fully settled i believe. 22's has been a preety smooth sailing, but i had -20 downswings on that before. having said that, i have never experienced a downswing more then 30 buyins. in any level. on my cash games days my swings were much crazier, but thats irrelevant i think? or maybe not. but i know how to handle it. i just shut down my computer and scream.. or i wil get mad and play in a higher limit and lose and then shutdown my computer and scream. but either way i know how to handle it. cash games atleast taught me the variance part.

a) 2k is 36 buyins of 55s...30 buyins is usually recommended, so it's not way too small

b) he has 4k total in his br...so he actually has 60 buyins

it doesn't matter if u 1-table or 20-table...as long as your roi doesn't dip from the extra tables, it's the same risk of ruin with 1-tabling as 20-tabling

as for 100s, u do have 36 buyins, which is enough if u are a winning player at the 100s (u don't know this yet, of course) and if losing those 36 won't be the end of the world....
