Re: Flopped trips with a weak ace?
Listen to Soah
For me, this is not really the flop I'm looking for with ATs unless I'm playing really weak opponents, or I have position. It looks like a great flop but it really isn't unless you manage to turn a boat. |

Re: Flopped trips with a weak ace?
Nice analysis, nice post.
[ QUOTE ] This all assumes that you can play well postflop against these opponents. If this is not the case, then I think you should fold to the preflop raise, as you already know that you will be out of position with a hand that is generally going to flop a marginal made hand, or a draw. [/ QUOTE ] I think this is the key in this particular hand. This is actually somewhat of a leak in my online play -- I am accustomed to playing with physical reads, and often against players with whom I have played many hands. I posted a defense above of my preflop call, but you're right -- if I have no information with which to interpret a bet or raise from one of the players behind me, flopping trips doesn't mean anything if I'm going to turn it into 32o... .. and as I think about it, the reason I regarded checking as a weak option in this hand is because I'd have no idea what to do facing a bet. Certainly something to think about. -dB |
