Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
[ QUOTE ]
River: (10.66 BB) Q (2 players) Guido checks, MP2 bets, Guido raises, MP2 3-bets, Guido calls. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] But if he had 87s, wouldn't he cap the betting with the nuts on the river? [/ QUOTE ] 87s makes sense for MP2. I see people cold call pre-flop with this sort of hand all of the time. On the flop he raised his open ender. On the turn and river, he made every raise possible. Hopefully, our hero was up against a smaller set... |

Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
[ QUOTE ]
You guys are HU so he figures to get more out of you by raising the turn. [/ QUOTE ] everyone loves to wait to raise their set on the turn, but when they're going to do that they don't raise the flop. I think he has a straight. I could see 33 played this way, but it's hard to put someone on exactly that, but then there is also 78. I don't think I've ever seen anyone bluff three-bet the river in this game. Again, I don't think he played like a flopped set, and I'd be surprized to see him go three bets on the river with a set of 4's or rivered two pair. I don't think I would raise the river after the turn action, but I may be too shy. |

Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
Good read... my opponent did indeed have 78s.

Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
On the flop I put him on a pair. On the turn I put him on 2 pair, trips or a straight. With the biggest possibility of a set. On the river I think I have him beat with a higher set but when he 3-bets me again I'm not capping and make a crying call. Like you said yourself he probably puts me on an overpair so he's not 3-betting on the river with a hand he can't beat most of the time.

Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
No, it's not obvious he has a 3 on the turn, (I said to me it looks like you are behind) it looks like a set since he called your 3 bet (or more unlikely a 2 pair) which is why I think I'm behind at this point. I discounted 87 as this seems unlikely cold call preflop with, but hey, maybe?
River Q then gets you top set, which would have me betting into him, but worried about the 3s on his river raise. Good hand to post .. anyway, results? |

Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
So how often do you see somebody fold to a 3-bet on the flop after he raised himself? I would say close to zero. So that isn't a good reason to check the turn IMO. My opponent had 78s. When I played the hand I never put him on pocket 3's. First I thought A6 or something. On the turn I thought trips and possibly 78s or A3s but not likely. Because of this I check-raised the river but didn't cap.

So after a cold call preflop, a raise on the flop, a raise on the turn and a 3-bet on the river you still cap? Doesn't seem the right thing to me. Guido [/ QUOTE ] that doesn't look like a set to you? the only hands that beat you are 3x and or 78. 3x doesn't raise the flop, but a good, aggressive player holding 78 would raise his OESD+2 overs. is he the type to coldcall with 78s? if not, you have to cap it. |

Re: How many mistakes in this QQ hand?
I think a set either caps the flop, or smooth calls to keep UTG in.
