Lake Washington Kangaroos.

What's weird about that?

Kangaroos???
We don't even have Kangaroos in Washington, wtf?

[/ QUOTE ]

Well for that matter, there isn't a single state in the USA that has tigers, panthers, Spartans, etc. I dunno... A kangaroo is definitely a funny animal, but it's not that weird for a mascot.

When I made a trip to Illinois with some friends back in high school, we met up with some girls who were from a school in Polo, IL whose team name was the Marcos.

The next town over from me was the Auburn Dandies. They have since changed it because I don't think anyone had any idea where it came from.

My wife's high school sports teams were The Midgets. Also in her conference are the Nimrods made famous on those ESPN commercials a while back. Also in the area are the Ashland Oredockers. There are actually several ridiculous names up there, but I can't think of any more at the moment - I'll let you know if I can remember some others.

Down in south Georgia there's a high school that's the Karo Syrupmakers. If you ever buy Karo syrup for some reason, it comes from that town.

Went to Roncalli, a almost entirely white school, and our mascot was the Rebels (complete with a little characature of Robert E. Lee in out gym, now thankfully removed).

I know Roosevelt was a rough rider and that is why they are called the Rough Riders, but I don't think Teddy is the actual mascot...
