Beckett's prices are very inflated, as are the prices of every other guide I've seen. If you really want to know what a card is worth, search for it on eBay.

I found my collection a few months back too. I poked around for prices online, Ebay was the best source I found. I think there's a principle of economics that says that something is only worth what someone will pay for it.

In general though if you're like me (stopped collecting in the early 90s) this will be a disappointing experience for you. Most of my "best cards" aren't worth anything anymore. And cards are pretty worthless unless they're graded, which none of mine are.

I'm in the same boat. I have a shitload of cards that may be worth somethin if they graded good but ungraded they will pull about 1/4th of book value. It's very disappointing. I'd like to sell most of my cards and put the money down on a house but I can't seem to do it.

Graded, or still in their unopened packaging. (Yes, I always look for a reason to post this pic.)

That's the best thing I've seen all day. I actually had to google it to make sure it wasn't just a hoax.

No, not a hoax. I actually have this card somewhere.

very sweet nolanfan. what is that '78 topps?

i went to the round rock express (triple A) game this past saturday and they gave away commemerative nolan ryan minature "statues" to the first 3000 fans through the door. i got there about an hour early to be sure to get mine. i was sure ryan was going to be there too but no such luck. i think they're pretty cool and figured you'd like them.

Cool, thanks for the link. The next item I need to get is a copy of my avatar pic, framed.

The front rack pack in my pic is 78, correct. The yellow packs in the wax trays are from 1979.

One day I pulled a Kurt Werner Jersey card valued around $600, and a Ron Dayne rookie jersey card valued around $350. Like a dumbass I hold on to them and couldn't get 25$ for both at this point. It's a damn shame.
