i was under the impression the plaza has good management and dealers at their cardroom.. i played there a few times, the players are all full of degenerates though...
and the same dealers want a big cut when you win a jackpot there.. Give me a break

- one good thing they have donuts/oj/coffee at like 6am, and probably only 1 table going

I would have just given you the pot.

this is a very good point.

not only did the room screw up but the other guy certainly could have done the honorable thing.
I certainly would have given you the pot on that one...or at least agreed to chop (unless you were a total dick to me about it at the time....or on a previous hand...whatever).

I stayed at the Plaza for three nights and agree that the dealers and management were generally very good. However, this was the last hand I played, and it left me with a very bad feeling. It seemed to me that the management was favoring a regular player over me (a tourist from Colorado).

If the guy who won the pot had merely offered to give part of the pot to me, I actually would have been okay, and let him keep the pot. What really annoyed me was the fact that both the cardroom manager and the player who won called me an "amateur" who simply did not know the rules. My wife, who is a better player than me, also complained to the cardroom manager, and he was rude to her as well. That annoyed me too.

I spoke with a manager in the morning who agreed I was wronged and told me to write a letter, which I will.

At that point I would have asked to speak to his supervisor.
Thats absolute BS. If one is rude to a customer, they shouldn't expect the customer back at all. One also has to remember that word of mouth can severly harm a company.

That sucks.
I actually had the opposite thing happen to me. Guy calls my bluff on the river, I fip over my ace high with a shrung and a "I can't win" look on my face. I can't see the other guys cards because he's all the way at the other end. The dealer pushes the pot to the other guy, and another regular in the middle of the table looks at my cards and tells me I have a winner.

At this stage, the dealer has already mucked the board and my opponent's hand. When I ask her to explain, she gives me a look and tells me I didn't push my cards far enough out for her to see them properly. I was a 20 year old kid at the time, new to poker, and didn't want to cause a fuss.

Actually, I think she didn't look at my cards, just read my body language and awarded the pot accordingly.
Live and learn.

what the [censored]??? I hope you guys dont play as passive as you act! I would be raising hell and making sure EVERYONE knew what was going on. Unless you didn't see his hand but that's impossible right? I trust strangers with my money about as far as i can throw them... that includes dealers.

A buddy of mine had something similar happen recently. He had the nut straight and had received quite a bit of action on it when the board paired on the river. He elected to just call a confident bet and said something like "I had the nuts until the river" when flipping up his cards. The other guy had a lower straight if I recall correctly, but based on the comment the dealer mucked the hands and pushed the pot to the other player.

The reason I posted is because the floor after being called over listened to both sides and stated that my buddy should not have allowed his cards to be mucked, but since the table agreed he had tabled the winner, he would have the security cameras checked. Of course the cams showed he did indeed have the winner and he got the pot.

Is this something you can request at most casinos in this situation?
