I feel like I'm the only one here that's more impressed by a better defense than a better offense. Defense wins championships. I think USC is a great, but you never know...

I hate the fact that people throw out a bunch of clichés and try to pass it off as analysis.

EDIT: It makes MORE sense to build a championship team around an OFFENSE because injury rates to defenders are much higher, especially on the line.

Here's some analysis for you. A team can score 50 points and lose. If a team doesn't give up any points, there's no way they can lose.

As for USC, they're clearly the best team in the country, but don't pencil them in yet. Let's see if they come out on top in the annual one or two Pac Ten games that they don't show up for.

I don't hate USC. In fact, I admire what they've accomplished during Pete Carrol's tenure. They were a laughing stock when he took over, and now they're the best program in the country.

I was merely pointing out a fact. Every year, there are one or two Pac Ten games where USC goes down to the wire against an inferior team (Stanford, UCLA, etc.)

Yeah, but other than the rare exception, maybe once every 4 years or so, every team has at least one close call, and most have 2 or 3. That's what makes that 95 Husker team so incredible. No one came close and they faced a tough as nails schedule.

You don't know a whole lot about football if you actually think this. The Bears would have a field day.
