Re: Was I cheap?
It is my understanding that the dealers at these clubs are not paid anything. I would also guess that the vast majority of them pay little or no taxes.
Regardless, $5 for any pot is a generous tip. I don't think I have ever tipped more than $5 at a NY club and I have certainly taken down pots in excess of $500. My tips are generally $1 to $5 depending on how I am running and whether the dealer is good. |

Re: Was I cheap?
I'll tip a red bird on a huge pot, otherwise it is a $1.
The dealer has no control over your winning, just like they have no control over you losing. Otherwise they would tip you when someone sucked out, right? |

The dealer wasn't responsible for you winning the pot was he? I can only find fault in you not buying the table a round after that [/ QUOTE ] I bought breakfast for a whole table at Turning Stone one morning. |

The players critiziced. They were prob pissed cause i ran so hot. AA 3 times in a session all for big pots. |

Re: Was I cheap?
Play 2-5NL at the Bellagio with MattFlynn, bugstud, and felson if you want to learn how to tip.
Matt was tipping $5 if he won the blinds. Felson and I were tipping the dealer everytime Matt lost a hand. Felson and I were also tipping the losing player if Matt won a hand. While Linda (who writes some poker blog that I can't remember the name of) was dealing, Matt, Felson and I were tipping her for no apparent reason, but we did get mentioned in her blog. And your $5 tip was fine for a sane, normal game. |

Re: Was I cheap?
My rule of thumb: the drunker I am, the more I tip.
Unless you were wasted that was way too big of a tip. |

Re: Was I cheap?
Where is the selection "Who the f'k cares because it's another tipping thread?"
Seriously, you shouldn't have to ask whether you're cheap or not. All it does is open up yet another stupid ass flame war on here that does nothing but clutter the boards. Tip what you want, leave it at that. |

Re: Was I cheap?
I fully agree. Could we PLEASE try to discuss something other than tipping on this forum? Lest we be forced to start a forum devoted solely to that topic?
