I fully agree. However, for you arguementative types, here's the alternative: Nod, and get really pissed off when a huge ruckus ensues after you highly ambiguous maneuver backfires in a huge pot. Slow up the game by proving yourself not only an idiot, but also inconsiderate enough to intentionally use vague and unclear ettiquette, thus adding to the already unmanageable problem of WPT trained morons who insist that they're just one step away from a certain WPT victory, because they're playing 2-4 and they've seen poker on TV lots of times, therefore they KNOW how to play, and how to friggin' deal as well. OR You could just check like a real person instead of a moron. al [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Is it that hard to tap the fvcking table. This is my number 2 pet peeve after stalling a showdown. |

After reading some of the posts after mine, it seems that my post was rather vague. I was trying to say that I agree with OP in that I don't like this style (the head nod) of checking. It leaves too much chance for error.

Khabbi,
Nothing I've said was directed at you. Sorry if I gave that impression. |

It also doesn't take much to use the time-honored, no-confusion, hand or finger table-tapping/knocking motion. And not much confusion is caused by actually uttering the word, "Check." But, hey, if you're looking to improve your way-cool table image, I guess you look for something new, huh? And making the dealer take the time to try and figure out just-what-the-hell your play is? Yeah, that's neat, too. Shows who's captaining the table. Jeeze, Louise, gimme a break. [/ QUOTE ] I fully agree with you and not condoning the "nodding move". As a dealer myself, I appreciate straight forward indications of a players intent. It just makes the game run smoother. Nodding is WPT wanna-be-ish. If someone does just nod though, I simply ask, "You checking?". If then nod again, it's a YES. |
