If I ever check behind here, take me out back and shoot me. And I am ahead. Way ahead.

Why do you raise only 3bb preflop with a limper?

[/ QUOTE ]

Funny you ask. It's probably the first time in like 15k hands that I've done that. For me, $40 preflop raise is standard minimum, usually more if limpers or if I'm coming out of the blinds, on a steal, etc. But $40 is MINIMUM so it's funny this happened this way. I was just getting cute I guess.

6 now and 8 later sounds about right. but i would not be surprised if he went ahead does it for you and CR you on turn. or calls and leads river big if he has a big pair.

Normally I'd underbet here to something like my first raise (450) because it allows him to crying call all the way with a lot more beaten hands. Then I'd bet something sweet like 575 on the river. Normally, a bigger bet lets him off too easy because it's an obvious obvious boat. However, because villain you say just sucks, the 600ish / allin river line seems pretty allright for him. Make him calldown with that 99.

Insta allin. It looks more like a draw on a draw heavy board or a pair of tens than a fullhouse. Though I think you can stack him value betting if he's got a big pair, but there are alot of river cards that might freeze your action depending on what the villain thinks you have. My experience is that if a standard villain reraises, he isn't going away no matter what happens.

I bet 700 he folded. blech. Afterwards I thought 500 - 600 would get him in there but who knows. He did time down for a bit before folding so he had something worth calling.

That doesn't always mean he has something. Some people just use that to save face when they have been bluffing/semi-bluffing.

Hah... so... Admittedly, I'm new. But, I'm not dumb, and I don't understand what's so wrong with checking in this spot.

You're obviously most likely ahead, but the only two positions are VERY ahead or VERY behind. Thus, betting isn't helping you protect against a draw, etc., which legitimizes the checking option imo.

Everyone has dismissed checking out of hand, and I'm curious to hear a reasoned explanation.
