I hate the granite/wood trimmed tables for stacking chips too. They're too slick and it's actually easier to handle the chips, pick them up, etc. when there's a little give to the surface. There is absolutely nothing good about these tables in terms of function. They look great, but playing on them is terrible in every way.

They are cleaner....most felt at edge of table retaines residual urine or worse...marble is nonpourous....makes me wanna keep my hands on the table...now if casinos would put their chips in the dishwasher once a month...

I'm about 51/49 on this issue. On the one hand, I kinda like the look of the marble tables, and the chips do stack easier. On the other hand, it does interfere with shuffling etc.

If I had to pick out all the tables for a new room, I think I would just slightly lean towards felt all the way to the rail, and no "racetrack."

Odd, most dealers I've ever talked to get annoyed by constant shuffling.

The other thing I didn't mention was that the WHITE marble racetrack SUCKS because people put there card there and you can't see them for chit. I much prefer, if you gotta have a racetrack, that it be wood, or black marble.

I know from my few times at the Aladdin, people were being told regularly by a certain dealer to refrain from keeping their cards on the non-felt area... after a few times, just about everyone had their cards on the edge of the felt... problem solved... Personally, I didn't care for the Aladdin tables (it might have just been one or two) because I thought the 'slope' down to the racetrack area was too steep for my liking... always felt I'd bend or expose a card when pushing them back to the felt, etc.

At MGM, the marble seemed to be more level with the felt, and none of the dealers seemed to care if people kept cards on the marble.. but yes, I think this may have caused some problems with dealers missing players in the hand.
