Re: Fat Chinese Guy Goes Back To the Basket
Actually it's easier to shoot a BB that far if u do it backwards. It's much easier to get the right amount of power and the right arc. It is however more difficult to aim obviously.

I was expecting a thread about dry cleaners... [/ QUOTE ] I was expecting this to be about fast food. I also wonder why NBA players don't shoot like that. Bam - 3pts Bam - 3pts Bam - 3pts Like clockwork. |

Re: Fat Chinese Guy Goes Back To the Basket
If you don't have the strength to throw a half court shot i suppose it makes sense, but for anyone with decent physical strength you are better off facing the basket.
We used to shoot halfcourt shots for half an hour everyday after basketball practice. The best guys could get around 1/10 |

Re: Midcourt Shot - Guy Goes Back To the Basket
It is a better approach for someone lacking the upper body strength to shoot the shot in a more conventional manner and the hand size/strength to throw it like a baseball. I've seen kids do it who couldn't get the ball within 10 ft any other way.

They are going to talk about it on Around the Horn here soon on ESPN, at least it was in the intro.

Re: Fat Chinese Guy Goes Back To the Basket
Dblgutshot - Shoot backwards? That's actually confusing to me. What's up with critiquing my diction / imagery? OOT is a tough crowd.
Joel2006 - yeah, that's what I was thinking - your power increases dramatically as you can generate more arm speed than going underarm toss or baseball throw. Running push-shot seems very inaccurate, also. But if you can just take a semi-normal shot from halfcourt line, facing the basket has got to be better. I've got a bet going that I can make 10/100 (or how many shots I get off) in an hour. I get 10 balls in a rack. I don't think this is too difficult. -Al |

Re: Midcourt Shot - Guy Goes Back To the Basket
It probably helps that by facing away, he's not results oriented. He can concentrate on a series of motions, not the basket.
When putting in golf, I never look at the hole until my ball has dropped....keeps me more focused on the stroke as opposed to the result |

Re: Midcourt Shot - Guy Goes Back To the Basket
I would probably have the best accuracy doing it soccer style, two arms above head. With some practice I bet I could hit a full courter....
edit: best for my own throws that is |
