I don't believe what anyone on this site says about tipping. If everyone in the world tipped like these guys supposedly do, bartenders would make more than NBA players.

What a total waste of money.

First of all, why do you even need someone to install your blinds? I'm not very handy and even I can do that.

$15 max.

Tip $20 to each guy if they did an excellent job.

That's my max and expectations though.

tipping should not be mandatory. if its mandatory its not really a tip, is it? there are things which are exceptions, like waitresses, but stuff like movers... it should just be added in the normal cost.

$20 is a good number (total, not for each). I've had blinds installed and that seemed about right and the guys seemed appreciative but not falling over joyful (if they had then I'd tipped too much).

For the haters that say "install them yourselves" -- if subfallen is getting blinds in his entire house (10 windows) it will take the pros <1hour to do it. My guess is that if he does it it will take >3hours. You have to figure out what the time is worth to you. For me it was an absolute no brainer.
"sir, would you like professional installation on those."
"HELL YES"
"I haven't told you what it costs"
"Oh, ok, what's it cost? HELL YES!"

Uh...a lot of people in this world are awful tippers. Furthermore, poker players often make a lot of money and can afford to tip. If you said the phrase "If everyone tipped like most poker players do..etc" then it might just be true. Besides, you are exaggerating anyway.

If there was a forum for complete cheap-ass townies, you wouldn't want to follow their tipping advice either.

ThisHo is correct. These guys are on pace to finish 8 windows (just a townhouse) in under 25 mins, while it would definitely take me several hours. Minimum.

I install and service gas related products like: fireplaces, gas grills, ect... I never expect any sort of tip since I make pretty good coin, but some customers feel the need to tip and when they do it's ussually $10 or $20. Really I'm just happy when they offer me something to drink.

Edit to add: I think tipping is out of control at least in the U.S.
