On the cafe... certain items are genuinely good, certain others genuinely bad. It's a matter of taste and of having eaten there enough times to know what is edible. Other cafes in vegas are certainly better, no doubt.

Feel free to look me up before you come to town, I can give you my #. Also, if you are here on a wednesday you should come to the poker discussion group at binion's at 2pm. I can give a ride if need be and you don't mind riding in dodge pickup trucks!

Thanks Al, I appreciate the info. I haven't finalized my plans yet, but I'll definitely look you up if it pans out.

And as picky as my wife can be, I'll look elsewhere for vituals.

True enough. That's the hard part about eating in Vegas if you're a once-in-a-while visitor - when you're eating you always imagine you're missing out on something better somewhere else!

I can't believe no one has said Excalibur sucks yet. Let me break the ice.

I have nothing good to say about it.

The game sucks, the hotel sucks, or it all sucks?

Food sucks thats for sure. Hotel for what you use it for is fine. 3 days 10 hours sleep that works.

There is a "midway" in the basement, which amounts to a kiddy arcade. I don't know about daycare. There is a pool, and it doesn't get too busy (from what I remember).

The dinner show is good, but not for kids under 10. It's "eat messy food with your hands", so smaller kids would be a disaster. The show itself isn't a problem, though.

I've got to agree with the food commentary. Buffet isn't high quality, but if you're just looking to stuff yourself so you can go all day without eating, it works. The steak house is good, but not great. Everything else is like mid-grade diner. Well, the Krispy Kreme and McDonald's (for the kids) on the 2nd floor.

For me, it was pretty idea (granted, the last time I was there was like 3 years ago). Had what I needed cheap, easy to get anywhere I needed to go.

Besides the Krispy Kreme and McDonald's upstairs, there is also a Quizno's Subs right next to Mickey D's.

I often get a sub here when I am in the area. Pretty damn good subs IMHO.

Best of Luck

Hi,

It depends on how you define recent. I want to say they've been up there about two years. I think that's close to the right time frame (but it could be a tad longer).

Best of Luck

Howard
