Hey Jeff, do you think AC can support 3 rooms with mid-limit games?

We spoke to the floor 2 weeks ago, the goal is to get games up to 30/60. They will not be spreading Omaha games of any type, but are willing to spread mixed games if the player base shows up.

I'm surprised they raked the 1/2 game, HOB's pitch is that the time charge is the same for all limit games below 10/20 and all NL games regardless of size - $5 per 1/2 hour. I guess that strategy didn't work out so great for them during their pre-launch phase eh?

When I was there they didn't time-charge neither the no limit nor limit game, this was the second weekend it was open.. Did I miss something?

Nice report.

went to the cashier to buy chips, and she looked at me as if I had three heads. She told me I could only buy chips from the dealer.

This happened to me when I was there a couple of weekends ago.

I didn't get a chance to play there (they weren't spreading anything above 3/6 and I get to AC so infrequently that I insist on playing higher, so went to the Taj instead), but the room looks nice, and I recognized the brush on duty as one from the Taj, and if I recall, a pretty good one at that. When my friend and I arrived, there was a 5/10 interest list with four names on it, and he called it when we added our names to the list (it didn't get off the ground).

I was very impressed with their new room. The manager said they have an official date of August 15th.

I think it's the 3rd best room behind 1) Borgata, 2) Tropicana. 4) would be Harrahs. This is in terms of room looks since they really aren't getting the players yet. Hopefully the logjams at Trop/Borg will spill over to Showboat. I waited over an hour for the 2/5NL at Trop last time.

hopefully it'll get the same younger crowd the borgata attracts eventually...

I think it will. Once the World Series of Poker visits in January, the room will have a lot more action.

I think a big plus for it is being near the TAJ - so people can easily bounce back n' forth with ease......

I agree. I played no limit with a Philly thug who normally plays at the Taj.

the Borgata still has my heart

Then you can refer to me as the Tinman. I don't have a heart.

Only a matter of time before I run into you there.
I really liked the room a lot also. It reminded me of the poker room the Mohegan Sun used to have.

I thought the seats were the best in AC

I also found them the most comfortable chairs in Atlantic City.

Jeff,

You'd think with this location, they'd be spreading mid limit games.

The floor took an interest list for any game. The room did not have enough players who wanted to play bigger limits. However if you could gather up ten players interested in playing $80-$160 they would spread the game.

Do you think they just want to keep this a low limit room?

They want to survive until September when the "pro's" invades Atlantic City. The Taj US Poker Championship and the WPT Borgata will draw some traffic to the room.

Once the room attracts more players the limits will increase.

I haven't been there yet, but I don't really plan to unless they get higher games going.

Take a visit to the room the next time you visit the Taj.

Did the 5/10 Stud game go?

It went very strong. I would have played in that game if it had any empty seats. The $1-$5 game served as a must move for the $5-$10 game. The game had a list, primarily of people playing in the $1-$5 game.
