So Dave had 1 out and hit it on the river? I don't think Jason goes 5 bets with bottom set (he's pretty much got to have 88 here).

I know this is a joke but he has to have 88 and 33 almost the exact same amount since 66 makes no sense for Dave to have, and the pot is like a billion bets so half the time dave has 45 outs and half the time he has 1. so he has 23 outs

but man did dave play that hand bad

what's the difference between bottom set and middle set here? is he really putting dave ona turned set?

The difference is that Dave could very well have 88 or conceivably AA and choose to go for overcalls on the flop instead of facing everyone with two cold on the flop in order to give them another chance to hit a favorable turn and therefore be more willing to call two cold on the turn with the bloated pot staring at them.

However, a more realistic difference is that I think, based upon Jason's nittiness reputation around here, that he would be unwilling to five-bet the turn after Dave 4-bets and would instead begin to wonder if Dave had AA / 88 / 66 if Jason was holding only bottom set; wheereas Jason only has to worry about the unlikely AA if he's holding middle set instead, and is therefore much, much more willing to make it 5 bets.

AA makes no difference but you're right that the fact that Dave could have 88 if jason has 33 but not if he has 88 is a big difference that I didn't consider

My meta read is that sfer made like the world's best fold and Jason is pissed over not winning more. Even it's not the most likely outcome, I feel it would be the most AWESOME.
