Re: 3 quickie mostly preflop questions
[ QUOTE ]
QJ after 1 limper [/ QUOTE ] Isolation raising with a mediocre hand is best saved for very weak-tight competition, or perhaps, very loose passive. If this guy fits this category and you know how to handle him postflop, you can raise. The straight-forward play is to fold. [ QUOTE ] steal raise, miss flop, continuation bet? [/ QUOTE ] the most common play is to bet, and you usually aren't far off autobetting everything you would raise with here. Generally only very good players handle this strategy very well. Basically, if it was right to steal raise, it's probably right to bet and hope you take it down right now. [ QUOTE ] KT from BB [/ QUOTE ] Personally, I wouldn't even 3-bet aces here, but my overall strategy is one of getting involved with all kinds of hands and playing certain flops aggressively. I believe most people think KT, even KJ, is a bit weak to 3-bet OOP. Naturally, you'll want to adjust these suggestions based on the opponent. good luck. Eric |

Re: 3 quickie mostly preflop questions
Yeah this is good advice in general.
The QJ hand is tough to comment on because we don't know too much about the limper. If he is loose I might raise/call, if he is meh I would probably limp along and if he is tight I would fold. Use your best judgement. Certainly folding isn't my 1st instinct though if the game is tight it seems reasonable since the limper could very well be tight here. I would never fold in a loose game though. The KT hand should be fairly straight forward for all newer players. When in doubt, don't try and bloat the pot with marginal hands OOP. This basically holds true as you move up as well though you might sometimes want to 3-bet here if you feel like people are stealing against you every lap. Even having said that, something like KTo probably isn't the best of hands to make a move with. You clearly have enough to call, but save those reraises for the big hands and maybe sometimes with lighter hands (JTs or 66 or something) against people who you feel might be robbing you too often.
