Obvious reasons? The only obvious reason I can come up with is a semi-bluff, representing a 5. And if he was trying that, a 3-bet would really be needed. Not that Hero is really going anywhere. So he doesn't even bluff well.

I see this type of play a lot with pocket pairs. I mostly see them donk-betting the river. I think it's because they don't want to miss any bets with their pocket pair. I don't really understand it, but that's all I can make of it.
