I worked in Northern Wisconsin on an Internship for 3 months. One day I went to the dump to throw a bag of trash away (because of the bears). I lift the lid, dump the trash, shut the lid and all of a sudden a Bear popped up from the other side of the trash bin. I looked at him, he looked at me and we both took of running in opposite directions. Scary as hell but something I will never forget. I saw a few come near where I was staying and often times they would be so scared of us they would climb a tree. Pretty awesome. As long as they don't have cubs around they fear us as much as we do them.

Those pics are amazing. I would have had a hard time believe that was possible if someone just told me about it.

"See that rope that bird seed is hanging on. Well, one time a bear climbed up the tree, climbed across the rope upside down, just to get into the seed. Man it was awesome."

Yeah right.

OMG those are the greatest pictures! I had no idea bears could climb skinny trees that well, much less rappel over ropes 'n' stuff. That is such a cool series of pics! Thanks for posting that.
