I will happily admit my newbieness on this particular point in order that I might gain the wisdom of those more experienced than me.

Your raised an interesting point that I admit I am still learning a great deal about. I have noticed that the stack sizes do factor into many situations, but I am still working through how to adjust my play systematically. Perhaps someone could provide a good starting point for further study in this area?

Ciaffone/Reuben have a chapter on stack size in their PL/NL book.

With respect to AK, the deeper the money the more cautiously you need to play AK.

When the money is not shallow, and the dead money not worth chasing, I would say it is normally better to limp with AKo or AQo being first in from early position.

Quote: If I hit an A or K, and I bet and get more than one caller, I play it carefully, wary of a trap. But if I have I have a decent read, I usually bet big on the turn to chase out anyone who is feeling nifty with their AQ or KQ as is so often the case on party.

Why would you want to do that? If you have a read that you're up against KQ on a Kxxx board on the turn why on earth would you want KQ to fold? Wouldn't you rather milk KQ in that scenario? If we're low on chips compared to the pot I'd put it all in. If we're deep I'd bet half the pot and then half again on the river or something like that.

hey nobody relates it to their stack size.

Bingo.

Quick rule of thumb for whether to believe posts here: if the post does not discuss/mention/contain implicit reference to stack size, forget it.

Anyone else feel the signal/noise ratio here is getting worse?

Grumpy and drunk,

Guy.
