Another one
There is an oft used photo of a Chinese student defiant in the face of a procession of tanks in Tianamenn square that will stick forever in my mind. This might be vidoe footage though.

[/ QUOTE ] That photo is all about symbolism, but the student does run out of the way shortly after the tank approaches... something that is so often overlooked about that picture. If you want to read something interesting on the power of a photo, read "Flags of our Fathers". It is about the famous Iwo Jima flag photo, and how it affected the lives of the soldiers in it. It also gives some truth about the photo that wasn't expressed for many years.

 There was another one that I wanted to post, but I couldn't find it, it's one of the versions of the cover for "Things fall Apart," by The Roots. This is a kid from Hiroshima or Nagasaki.
