[ QUOTE ] Obviously the answer is yes. [/ QUOTE ] but that doesnt mean I think what you are doing is not smart. Your time is now more valuable when measured by opportunity cost, so proceed accordingly. [/ QUOTE ] Exaclty. The nature of online poker is that you have as much work as you want, anytime you want it. It therefore presents a rather pure example of opportunity cost. If you're making $100/hr playing online, it makes no sense at all to spend an hour returning something that cost $30. |

I've picked up some similar tendancies.
When I used to work I'd shy away from spending money because I'd always think, well going out tonight is going to cost me about 2 hours of work. So I'd think to myself, two hours I worked today I basically got paid nothing. With poker it's not like that, for me anyway. The bankroll is large enough so that spending $50 on dinner means nothing. It also doesn't quantify anything as far as 'hours worked' goes either. I don't keep track of a "per hour" wage playing poker because it's never the same. I can't say I'm as cavalier as you about shoving chips into the pot, but I am definitely more eager to just shove them in online if I feel like someone is trying to steal than I would be playing live. |

If the answer was yes, one could honestly say that they don't think about winning more money playing poker when buying something expensive. For instance, when I bought my new ipod, even though I had a perfectly working older one, I reasoned to myself that I could easily make this money back playing a good hour of poker.
The answer is clearly no since the cash that we easily earn through internet poker has value in real life. |

AHORITA! seriously, i have the same kinda problem. i recently bought a norelco electric razor which doesn't work in the least. blows goats. its $165. i figure maybe i'll keep it for the [censored] of it and still pay $20 for mach3 power razors. similarly, i have an interview at lehman in NY next friday. am i really going to remember to ask waiters and taxi drivers for receipts for reimbersement?? luckily their travel department has a good system where they pay for my flight but if they didn't, id probably end up shelling out the dough and not get it back. my problem is i think when im way older id want some of this wasted money back....with interest. If i saw my bankroll like real money, I would be to scared to continue play poker.
When I make a cashout it "transforms to real money" in my mind. It can feel really strange... The cashout is a rather small part of my bankroll which feels like nothing when on Internet.. "Ohh sh*t! That was a lot of real cash i got in my hand!" //Pug |
