Default Re: A Big Mistake in Hand/Reading !?

Assuming none of the others are awful, I'd put the limper on a 9, but not a full house since he just called the river raise. I'd put the button a flush. It could easily get capped on the flop as one pushes his trips and the other builds the 3 way pot for his flush draw. On the turn the limper is now afraid of 66 or a better 9.

But, having said all that, not sure i'd be confident enough to re-raise the river.

Off to check the results.

Default 176 to 1 and not a good call?

Irresepctive of the results, you opponents only need not have a full house or straight flush 2 out of 17 times for your call to be poisitve EV. 17 - 1 with the nut flush- they won't always have a boat or straight flush. I call, and while expecting to lose more often than not, I would certainly expect to win enough to make this a very positive EV call.

I don't think you need to fear a boat once the turn gets checked around. Certainly not the button, no need to fear him. Someone with a big hand would have bet that. Surprised no one bet to at least make the flush draw pay. One of them has a 9, no doubt, but no boat.

I'd raise on the river, I think you're good.

Default Re: Why would he check the turn ? - OOPS -- misread the post

My mistake, I must have skipped past the sentence where you said the turn was checked around, so I thought the river you described was actually the turn. You are right, if this is the river play I don't think the button is full.
You probably have the best hand, and my guess is the button has a straight or a lower flush. What were the results?

I would definitely bet out on the turn when it was checked to me. If I was check raised or raised I would have to know my opponent well not to reraise most of the time.

My actions on the river would depend on what happened on the turn.

Just My Thoughts,

Default Result !

RIVER: [ 6h 9h 9s 8c ] [ 5h ]

The limper bets - I call - the button raises - the limper calls - and I call.

The button lost [ 8h Kh ] (flush)
The limper lost [ 9d Td ] (three of a kind)
BB King's won [ Jh Ah ] (flush)

Quite some posters got that. Good going !

Thanks !
