Thanks for the responses. Bigfishead, I am surprised the Casino itself pays you guys so little. That really doesn't sound like a fair wage, given the amount they are making. Just goes to show the importance of being good to your dealer...

Now I still tip dealers so dont think I stiff them but I don't think the players should have to tip. Dealers are employed by the casinos and we are paying to play at the table. Why should we pay the dealers wages so they can make money for the casino. Kind of odd if you ask me. or am I wrong?

I think more accurately he is saying the casino is already bathing in money, and that paying their staff a reasonable amount shouldn't be out of the question witht he way things are currently done.

When tipping is expected, it might as well be a new rake. Do you know what gratuity means?

BTW, this is no dig on dealers, and good dealers should be tipped. Tips would increase for good dealers as well if they got to keep their own toke. If the dealer does a great job but the floorman is shitty and the chip runner is shitty, why should they all get to split the dealers toke, particularly when you're expected to tip the chip runner as well?

There's no accountability in a shared toke, and no reason for any dealer to do well, because however much better he is thant he next guy is diveded up by however many total guys there are. if dealer A is 10x better than dealer B but there are 10 dealers that night, he is working 9 times harder for 1/10 of his earnings.

If you had seen any of my posts on this topic you would know you were being redundant. And there is know way I would work in a place where I had to pool my tokes.

It really depends on where they deal and on what shift, but if you said that an average full-time dealer in an average room on an average shift made between $50-60k gross, you'd probably be pretty close.

[ QUOTE ]
The rule at Horseshoe says that employees at the casino can NOT gamble. They used to be able to play whenever they like but that's another story. However, they do allow props. He is technicly proping the game which he can only do while on the clock.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am not sure I understand the difference between playing the game and propping the game?
