Default Re: Egyptian Chips = Ugly?

While I wouldn't call them ugly, they didn't quite meet up with my expectations when I got my samples. I love the contrast of the $1, but feel the others lack a little in definition for the overall picture. I think its that the "bricks" get lost on some of the colors to me. Just my personal opinion though.

One good thing I still have the money to get the Egyptian Paulsons which turned out to be more of my liking.

I'm not really a fan of either design, or the whole egyptian thing altogether. But I can appreciate the dedication and organizing skills of Ten. I wish someone would put together something of this magnitude with a fresh theme/design. Cause I just can't bring myself to spend a grand on pyramid chips.

Thanks for the compliments on the organization.

But re: the Pharaoh's Club chips. Think about it, you have to have a theme of SOME sort. Caesars Palace has a theme, its Greek. But you're not "thinking" greek when you hear "Caesars Palace," you are thinking "big glitzy Vegas casino." [or boxing] There are other group buys going on too, and they all have a theme. One is a Samurai theme, one has horses on it, another has a Communist Russia theme (haha yeltzen). The same set in a group buy cannot have a theme for each individual buyer, that would defeat the purpose wouldn't it?

Point is, a theme is necessary, but it the style and quaility that gets people interested. Almost ALL OTHER sets are really jsut one image with the $1 changed to a $5 to a $25, and so on. Mine have a different image for every chip. That is a big reason why mine are appealing. (this includes the Chipco set I made. Every chip is unique.)

If you want exactly what you want, "pyramids" or "Chinese symbols" or "horse,", and you want a different design on every chip, then you are going to pay $1,000 in setup fees. I chose to split it up between thousands of us, and it hurt the wallet a lot less.

Or.... if you want Paulsons without pyramids on them, you can buy a set of the Trademark generics (one designs for all seven chips) for $1.25 each (under 5000 pieces) while we are paying 90¢ each.

Keep your troll in your pants, OP.

I'm not enamored enough with either to purchase any but I sure as hell won't slam them in a new topic.

That's a real asshat move.

Easy there, tiger. Like I said in my original post, to each his own. I just think it's weird that everyone here seems to think that they're Jesus: The Poker Chip while I don't think they're that attractive especially from the side.

Very true, they're not that attractive. They're Chipcos. Chipcos are ugly. Therefore the egyptians and the suits are ugly.

I think of these chips like trying to polish a turd. However much you polish it, it's still a turd. The egyptians and the suits are the BEST chipco chips I've ever seen, including all the ugly crap they make us play with in casinos. Thinking about it, Fins might have made the best looking set of chipcos around.

I'm just a clay man. I'm still not going to start a whole new thread to slam someone's chips. Hell... I use nexgens.

it's an ugly business, polishing turds. my uncle made a go of it back in '83. the big chicago turd-polishers had his head. his head, i tell you.
