She might want to pay for it out of pocket depending on what it does to her insurance and if its not very expensive to fix.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. It could be more expensive for her in the long run if her premiums go up.

Alright OOT'ers, help me out here. I just recently bought a used car. I haven't even had it for a week yet. So I'm at a party with a bunch of co-workers, this chick is leaving, and as she backs out she hits my car. The damage isn't bad, but it's there. Problem is that she doesn't have insurance yet, but she's getting it on Monday. She's going to take care of the damage one way or the other, but I don't want her to pay out of pocket. So we're thinking that we'll just claim the accident next Saturday. I'm being told that I have to get a police report. Is this true? I mean if she claims responsibility I don't see the need for a police report. I know she'll get it taken care of, that's not my concern, I just want to make sure that she's not paying out of pocket. Thoughts....

.... and people bitch about why their insurance rates are so high.... Damnit people, this is one of biggest reasons: FRAUD.

Insurance premiums are not calculated based on having the 100% probability of paying out, which is what the case would be here. Otherwise, the premium would be the exact amount of the claim in question. No one should 'profit' from an insurance claim, which is what you/she is thinking of doing here.

... the best thing to do (on so many different levels) is obvious: Have her fix your damages out of her own pocket. It's best for everyone ... you, her (her insurance won't go up), the insurance companies, and the rest of us who pay insurance.

Fck, people piss me off.

I don't know about that. I'm getting the work done at my dealeship, I've already deceided. I don't want some half-ass job done. And as far was the poor insurance people go... I don't really have any sympathy for them. Insurance companies are evil, just like credit card companies and personal injury lawyers (for the most part).

The best part is, they have great detectives. I hope they find this thread.

BTW, you're an ignortant fck. You're so ignorant that instead of trying to figure out why you're ignorant, you'll probably either just ignore this reply, or come up with some irrelevant reply.

It's always interesting how people try to legitimize their own lowlife behavior.

Regardless of what you think of the level of integrity of corporate america, even if your allegations of them being "evil" are true, it still doesnt justify fraud. Insurance fraud is dishonest and immoral, because, as previous posts have pointed out, you're not really hurting the insurance companies. They make that money back by jacking up the premiums to compensate for losses resulting from thieves like you and this girl (you guys are thieves if you pull this scam). Honest people who don't pull scams have to pay bigger premiums because of people like you. If everyone were honest, premiums would be lower.

Doesnt your conscience tell you that it's wrong? Whether or not you have a conscience, your brain certainly isnt working very well if you think the insurance companies are the ones who suffer when you rip them off. All you're doing is ripping off regular folks who own and buy insurance. The companies still make out just fine.

Sheesh.... who put the sand in your vagina.

After some serious considerations I'm going to ask her to pay out of pocket. Not because I think that insurance fraud is wrong, I know it's wrong and I've always known that. But in defense of my original intentions, the insurance companies are evil, and all of you should know that. It's ridiculous that your rates go up when you're involved in an accident that's not your fault. Anyway, thanks for all the responses, they have helped me in my decision.
