Re: So who wants a free Card Player subscription?
[ QUOTE ]
If cardplayer needed to increase circulation numbers so badly wouldnt they just put the free subsription offer on their own site and/or offer this through a whole bunch of other cardrooms? I would think that bodogs is picking up at least part of the bill for this...no? [/ QUOTE ] Ahh... great question CubsWin (for a minute there I thought you were Clark, the Avatar confused me!). The best way for me to describe this is an advertising bait and switch. Free subscriptions are different from "gift with purchase" subscriptions. In order to increase ad revenue a magazine needs to increase "paid" circulation... controlled (free) circulation cannot be accuratly tracked or audited, plus there is no guarentee the magazine is being placed in the hands of qualified readers. Gift with purchase is a sollution to make sure the reader is qualified, while being counted as a paid subscriber. To qualify as such the reader has to (a)opt-in and (b)purchase something that is $1 greater than the price of a normal subscription. I hope this better explains the shady side of my business TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
