The 13-hour flight from LA to Sydney is made much, much easier with our good friend Benadryl. That stuff'll knock you straight out. For whatever amount of time you do find yourself awake, you should be able to figure out something to do.

Screw poker. You don't get this chance very often. Head down under with your buddy (especially if his GF won't be there).

if that is your bankroll, you should definitely not go. australia can always be done at a later time. Save up money playing poker, then goto australia when you are more financially stable. Don't create any extra stress... this is not necessary

It actually can't be done at a later time because our friends are studying aboard and they will be done by the time I'm done school in the summer...so its now or never. also can i tell you how i would never go back to 1-2nl so this is actually weighing on my decision because i would just take the 2300 to the 2-5nl and risk going broke b4 i go back down to that piss level.

Hate to say it, but that is a terrible method of thinking. If you can't take 1 step back to take 2 steps forward then you will eventually run into ruin. Anyways regarding the main post. I would say go to Australia, those kind of opportunities are what life is all about. When you are old and grey are you going to think back to the week of poker? I think not. If you are going to tap your bankroll then this is exactly the type of event to tap for. Just my humble opinion.

This is a crazy thread. Do what you want, who cares? Some people might actually like the prospect of a trip to Australia with their buddy, to visit their best friends. If you can't/won't spend the money for the trip that's fine, but it sounds to me like you just don't want to miss a week of poker. The Borgata will be here when you get back.

FWIW, going on this trip will significantly increase the chances that he goes broke and doesn't get to play poker anymore (at least for some period of time, depending on how easy it is for him to replenish his bankroll).

That's a very good point that I overlooked. If he is using BR money to finance this trip, which will obviously be very costly, then going on any trip is not smart. If he is THAT broke, playing poker is not that smart either.

Regardless, a trip like this with friends overseas doesn't come around too often.
