I want to get either a Sidekick or a blackberry... I presently have cingular... Which would you suggest? Thanks

Have you checked the rates with Cingular? I think your going to pay thru the nose if you average more than 3 text msgs a day. Tmobile is rumored to be the best in terms of inexpensive data plans.

Why not just get a Wifi card for your PDA?

I'll tell you the problem with a Blackberry. It's playing BrickBreaker and having like 8 lives and beefing it on that goddamn board that's like this:

XyyyyyX
XyyyyyX
XyyyyyX
XyyyyyX
XyyyyyX
XyyyyyX
XyyyyyX
XXXXXXX

Where X are those impenetrable bricks and y are the ones you destroy, all because the board moved down on you too quickly. And then someone on a conference call asks you something and you have no idea what he's talking about. So frustrating.

Oh man you have no idea how I hate that board. I think the key is getting lucky and getting the gun early and blasting the bottom bricks. Then, getting the Catch and using that to pick off the bricks one at a time without getting in trouble with richochets.

I passed that board only like 4 or 5 times. My current high score is just under 11k.

Do you really need to contact Tank with greater frequency?

FYP

Blackberry pros:
Corporate email syncing with Outlook
Battery Life better than anything you have ever, or will ever own. My BB works for 5 days straight without a charge
Very easy to use keyboard/thumb controls
The thing is built like a brick

Blackberry Cons:
The cell phone service is the worst.
Have to use a headset, the form factor is horrible as a phone
No AOL Instant Messenger to bother Tank at work with

Sidekick Pro's
AOL IM rules
Paris Hilton has one
Built in camera
Much sexier in a purse

Sidekick's Cons:
Tank will want to play with it because he doesn't have one too
Tank can now IM you and you have no excuse to avoid him anymore
Your account can be hacked like Paris Hilton's was, make sure Jake the Bake doesn't get access to it or your photos become public domain
Its bigger the the Blackberry

I have no idea how the cell phone sounds on a Sidekick, any feedback?

i manage a cingular store in the bay area of california. long story short, you should never cancel cingular service. with that being said... most major points were already covered. blackberry is essentially an email machine, with a few bonuses. RIM specializes in functionality, and it sounds like you're purposes might be more recreational than they truly designed the blackberry for.

on the other side, tmobiles data plan IS cheaper, but the trade off you get is a much crappier network. we basically sold em our old one, so that should tell you something. reception on the blackberry isnt great, but it WILL be worse on the sidekick.

my 2 cents.

if i were you, i would get a blackberry, you have a 30 day return policy, try it out and see if it does what youd like it to do for that time period, and if it doesnt, bring it back. easier than just canceling your service straight away and porting over to tmobile.
