This matchup won't do anything for baseball.

this is NOT great for baseball. Not just because people won't watch, though certainly that's part of it.

Because the Sox, Yanks, and Angels got eliminated, this allows baseball to continue to deny that there's any salary problems. But, hey, I'm a Red Sox fan, so I'm not too worried about it. But ask Pirates and Royals fans if they think this is great for baseball...

Yeah, great for baseball is probably the wrong sentiment. Great for me as a fan. And it should be for all true fans.

I'm a crappy, crappy fan. I not only don't want Houston or their fans to be happy, I really, really want Bagewll and Biggio to retire without a World Championship. And I want the true Sox fans to enjoy, because that has been a miserable franchise to root for up there.

People who disagree with you, Andy, will say "but nobody cares about these teams".

Thing is, the 3rd and 4th largest cities in America are represented. That alone will create a lot of interest.

Plus, tons of true BASEBALL fans (i.e. not just fans of specific teams) will love this matchup.

If only whitesox fans were as whiny as redsox fans, then this series would get more attention than last years, BY FAR.

Clark, just outta curiosity, if the Padres had beat the Cards, then the STros beat the Pads, would you still feel this way about Bags and Biggio?

Sincere curiosity...

Yes. I've always detested them and that team.

For years it's been a short, simple Clark uber hate list.

1. Cubs
2. Mets
3. Stros

Eh, a generation of kids in these cities will see something that their parents and grandparents have never seen. That at least has the potential to create some lifelong fans.

I'd like it better if 1 team wasn't an undeserving wildcard team.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, they are undeserving, I mean... [censored], they only did what one other team has done in history, coming back from a 15-30 start, and then did what that team didn't, going to the world series.

Im just guessing here, but I'd have to say you're probably a fan of some team my stros put a whipping on.

bitter much?
