Re: AK Hand vs Chief911
What is the range of hands I could have played this way?

Re: AK Hand vs Chief911
Actually, the better question is. After the turn lead bet, what did you put me on?

A8/99/1010. I definitely think you fold to a push.

Re: AK Hand vs Chief911
Chief's line is either an incredibly sophisticated bluff inducer or a terrible way to play a weak made hand, and maybe a mixture of both. I really dont like his play in this hand, unless of course it was some higher level of thinking in which case he's thinking too hard.
Come on you lead 200 on the flop? WTF? Call a big raise then lead less than 1/3 on the turn? What is this crap? If I wanted to blow him off the hand (from hero's perspective) I might consider a call on the turn vs a push on the turn. The reasoning for this is that a) chief is betting like a vag so its unlikely he'll pot commit himself on the river meaning if he bets you still probably have FE b) A call on the turn is probably more scary to chief if he is holding a marginal hand than a raise would be. I can see chief being a hero here with like middle pair but if you call the turn bet it becomes much harder for him. c) Its likely Chief checks on the river and gives up when you go all in. d) Its also possible you have the best hand... Chief's line is the default retard way to play a draw. But there is no convenient draw out there on the flop but I think maybe a small chance of a JT type hand. All in all this hand is ugly and leaves me with a piece of throwup in my mouth. -Jason |

Re: AK Hand vs Chief911
[ QUOTE ]
I agree, it's pretty obvious Chief knew his flop donk bet was getting raised, [/ QUOTE ] Right so far. [ QUOTE ] and therefore I don't know how often he would even considering folding top pair. I may even go broke with a queen no kicker against a very aggro player in his spot- the way he played it. AQ is not folding to a reraise here. [/ QUOTE ] The variable you're missing is that Chief probably knows who Benal is in this hand. He knows Benal is gonna raise that bet no matter what, but that isn't guaranteed with a turn bet. So this is one of two things - he wants to know where his queen is, or he wants that second raise in the pot. There's no way Chief plays A8 this way. Medium pair, maybe, but that's a very expensive way to play it if Benal has kings so I rather favor my 'queen or set' idea (could be 66, too). BTW, given the way the hand played out so far, I think Chief certainly does fold AQ to a raise. If you don't, it's a leak. But hey, I'm one of those donkeys that loves raising underbets and has to fold to a 3 bet a fair bit, so what do I know? PS: I disagree with strassa for once...I think Chief played this hand really really well given the player he was up against and it's a third level thinking hand. The fact that nobody in this thread can put him on anything for sure (including me, it's not like I'm 100% sure of what I just typed) is a really big deal. |

Re: AK Hand vs Chief911
Wow, you guys have way overthought this hand.
Hero has nothing; he should give up. Chief either has a big hand or a semistrong hand like A8-Weak queen. It's unlikely that Chief has air. Can hero move Chief off his hand? Not if its a big hand Maybe if its a medium hand Chief has been building a pot since the flop Chief has played the hand OOP against EP raiser Hero has no expectation that Chief will lay down to a big raise. It's an $11-rebuy and far from the real money. Certainly not an EV++ opportunity for hero. Next hand. |
