Re: Vegas during CES/AV convention?
I was shocked at the prices during CES. Virtually every strip property is asking $300+ per night. The lowest rate I could find on the Nugget was $150. Ive stayed at the Orleans before, and I liked it, so the average rate of $120 or so I can deal with. I just hope I can find some 10/20, 15/30, 20/40 action worth justifying this particular scheduling. On one hand, having 150k conventioneers for CES/AV can't be a bad thing, because some of these guys will play poker (particularly given poker's new coolness). OTOH, Ive heard that conventioneers are not generally huge gamboolers, and mostly will be looking to spend their evenings at the Spearmint Rhino or Cheetahs. (I heard the Comdex crowd was particularly tightfisted, although that surprises me somewhat.) What's been your experience? January is usually really good in Vegas between MLK day, and Super Bowl, but I just dont know about CES/AV.

Re: Vegas during CES/AV convention?
They kicked out Comdex basically. Those tight fckers wouldn't place a $5 bet on a bj game let alone play poker. They raised the room rates so high and Comdex just said screw it and went away because it was costing the casinos so much money to have them their and not gamble.
As for CES, I remember last January it being pretty busy in the joint I worked at back then. Not big gamblers though. The PBR (rodeo) brings in lots of the Texans and New Mexicans with extra cash to throw around. Now those guys can gamble! |

I haven't had a problem getting a room yet at a major property during the convention I normally attend, and it's just slightly bigger than CES/AV. I also reccomend investigating the week of MAGIC in February. 96,000 attendees... many of who are gam00ling Israelis. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Also, where and when are main attractions of the conventions happening? |
